Hello to everyone reading this. I wanted to drop a quick paragraph in about myself. I Have been a career engineer since I started a modern apprenticeship in 1998. I have been fortunate to have remained employed since then building my experience and forging a career path which has led me currently to being a regional facilities manager looking after approximately 30 buildings.
This hasn’t been a linear path, and I have had to pivot and adapt on more than a few occasions to keep growing.
What I as really astonished me is the rapid changes that have occurred in 27 years. Maintenance in factories and businesses have had to progress at a rapid rate from using systems like Medoc (Mitsubishi PLC) to rudimentarily control equipment to now integrating AI into apps and BMS systems.
I am fortunate so far to have been able to tag along to these changes and with an ever-aging population will probably still be doing this for another 30 years. That why I really wanted to document some of the things I have seen in my career and post some forward-looking content with regards to Facilities management and Maintenance Engineering
As a personal Timeline my experience is as follows-
1998 -2002 – Apprentice
2002 – 2006 – Maintenance Technician
2006 – 2016 – Maintenance Engineer
2016 -2019 – Technical Manager (Projects, training and troubleshooting)
2019 – 2025 – Senior Engineer/Engineering Area Manager/Early Life Cycle specialist/ Regional Facilities Manager
I have been waiting a long time to take this next step to share past experience and vision of where industry and businesses will go into the future.
Many Thanks for Listening
